Stop right there. Do you like roses? Do you love the smell of roses? If not then walk away now. Because YSL Parisienne is all about the rose.
I first smelled this a few years ago and my brother gave me a gift set a couple of Christmases ago but it all seemed a bit too special to use. I finally dug it out at the end of last year and it made a great spring into summer work fragrance. Most people are pretty much familiar with the big 80s rose scent of Paris and this updates it for a new generation really. Fragrantica lists the notes as Damascus rose, violet, peony, cranberry, patchouli, vetiver, musk and sandalwood – plus there’s the oddity of vinyl and lacquer. Parisienne is a city rose, blooming in a dirty window box high above gritty footpaths.
I love rose and I love this. Don’t be put off by that weird twist, it certainly doesn’t smell like glue mixed with roses or anything obscene like that. Instead it’s more of a sweet, slightly plasticky rose like a Turkish Delight wrapped in synthetic packaging. It’s almst impossible to dislike unless of course roses aren’t your thing. Plus it has the typical YSL luxe packaging making it even more special to use and display.

I have this. I get more blackberry and fruity notes from it then rose, but its an enjoyable summer fragrance x
Agreed – does have those berry notes and is great for warmer weather
