The Amy and Tina Show

with 6 comments

I missed seeing the Golden Globes as they played out but I caught some of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey’s best hosting work and loved it. Very funny and sly without being mean, which I think is pretty much both their humour to a tee. I absolutely love love love Amy on Parks and Recreation and though I haven’t seen as much of Tina’s stuff (for example I don’t watch 30 Rock) I’ve always found her likable enough. You can watch their opening piece here. Also Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell’s presentation is hilare – watch it here.

I’m rapt Argo won Best Picture and Best Director for Ben Affleck. Such a great movie. And, of course, Hugh. Loves me some Hugh.

I can’t be bothered picking out dresses I don’t like any more unless there’s absolute zingers. Instead I’ll just deliver what I liked which actually isn’t much. There did seem to be a lot of nude/pale/white dresses this year which isn’t exactly my cup of tea, and no massive pops of colour. Although there were a number of red dresses I noticed. And black. Gold embellishments. Big earrings. So nude, red and black and barely anything else. To be honest I was super disappointed with what was brung and am really struggling to pick a favourite. In fact, I don’t think I have one. I don’t.

Claire Danes.

Claire Danes.

I wasn’t really into Claire’s dress but that hair and make up is perfection. I worship her.

Connie Britton.

Connie Britton.

Connie Britton is my favourite of the nudes. Just simple and sparkly but with that hair you can’t really go wrong. Connie Britton’s hair deserved its own Golden Globe.

Jennifer Garner.

Jennifer Garner.

Of the red team, Jennifer Garner’s dress is probably my pick. I also really like Jen so I’m glad she looked good.

Naomi Watts.

Naomi Watts.

And while I couldn’t say I love Naomi Watts’ dress with the fire of a thousand suns, there’s something about this overall look that just really works. A for effort.

Finally, if I ever get nominated for an award, this is exactly what I’d like to be doing at the moment they cut to me.

  1. I generally don’t give a crap about nail polish, but Connie’s was awesome too.

  2. I’m a massive Tina Fey fan. I really recommend her audiobook Bossypants. Amy is just hysterical too. They did such a good job.

    • I’ve read Bossypants but I didn’t love love it. They both seem like great people though, I think that’s part of their charm.
